High Energy Firing Unit (HEFU)

Hi-Shear Technology Corporation has produced High Energy Firing Units for more than 40 years. Early applications include the Pershing I, IA, and II, the Trident Launch System and the NASA standard Exploding Bridgewire (EBW) device. More recent applications are Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM), Patriot and Tomahawk Vertical Launch System. Hi-Shear's high reliability HEFU is currently used with the Titan IV SRMU's for motor ignition and separation.

Output is 2200 volts discharged from a 0.65 microfarad capacitor.
