HI-SHEAR SELECTED AS SUPPLIER TO THE PATRIOT ADVANCE CAPABILITY MISSILE PROGRAM
Hi-Shear Technology Corporation, Torrance, CA (AMEX:HSR) today announced that it has been selected by the United States Army to supply Hi-Shear’s innovative electronic firing system for use on the Patriot Advance Capability (PAC-3) anti-missile. Hi-Shear will immediately begin manufacturing its electronic firing system, according to the Army’s initial production schedule. The PAC-3 program is scheduled to expand rapidly from low rate production to full production over the next two years. This selection is the result of Hi-Shear’s ongoing development program to provide a stream of the most advanced missile firing systems.
The PAC-3 anti-missile is a high velocity, hit-to-kill, surface to air missile, which offers increased range, accuracy, and lethality compared to current missile systems. PAC-3 is capable of intercepting and destroying aircraft and tactical ballistic missiles. This missile program represents the significant upgrades that the Army is making to its National Missile Defense program.
