ELECTRO-MECHANICAL SAFE/ARM DEVICES
The electro-mechanical Safe Arm Device provides dual explosive output for remote safing/arming
and subsequent initiation of ordnance items. Hi-Shear SAFD505 is fully qualified for system
use, target drone applications. The approximate weight is 2.9 pounds.

Hi-Shear designed, developed, and qualified the SAFD505 for the US Air Force
F-4 target drone. This device is an electro-mechanical Safe/Arm device for use in a wide
variety of applications for remote arm and dual initiation of ordnance products. It features
remote indication status and remote or manual safing. It is qualified to MIL-STD-1516.
The Company also manufactures Electronic Safe/Arm/Fire Devices (ESAF)
that incorporate exploding foil initiators (EFI).
