Products - Tension Rod Separators
SR1100 and SR1200 Tension Rod Separators were developed for use wherever a rod
or cable under tension must be separated. It is designed and manufactured by
Hi-Shear Technology Corp. to be an integral part of a rod or cable to be separated.
Each size separator is rated to withstand a specified tension load. Depending
upon rod diameter, standard models can support full tension loads from 5,000
to 55,600 pounds ultimate tensile strength. This capability provides aerospace
designers with a wide variety of proven off-the-shelf tension rod or cable
separators.
Designed to function as a high tension rod or cable until separation is required,
the SR1100 and SR1200 devices do not employ a guillotine type action or a
fracture ring machined into the rod to effect separation. Comparatively low
pressure gas generating power cartridges actuate the SR1100 and SR1200 mechanical
separation systems.
Hi-Shear’s Tension Rod Separators offer users and designers a number of inherent
advantages. They save weight and space because they function as a part of the
tension rod. They have redundancy capability – the SR1100 series uses a single
cartridge while the SR1200 series accommodates two cartridges. They may be
installed without the Power Cartridge, thereby reducing potential hazards. They
can be actuated by either millisecond or time delay PC or EBW PE400 series power
cartridges produced by Hi-Shear.
